A major civic symbol, the Maison du citoyen is also Gatineau's City Hall, housing municipal authorities and numerous administrative services. Interesting fact: a glass walkway directly connects the building to Place du Portage, facilitating access between the two government hubs. DLS Construction managed the fourth phase of the façade refurbishment, targeting the southwest wing, including the nine-story tower and its adjacent stepped floors. The project mobilized various expertises: masonry, glazing, roofing, and refurbishment of the walkway's glass roof. The work was carried out in a 100% occupied building, which demanded strict control measures for noise, dust, and odors, particularly around ventilation systems. Another notable challenge was the installation of heated granite panels with a custom-made anchoring system on the parapets, designed to prevent snow accumulation and ice slides in winter.
